Kitchen replacement
Stripping out a kitchen usually means removing units and splashbacks, lifting flooring, cutting into walls and ceilings and altering gas, water and electrical services. The scope of a survey should follow that work rather than the room label.
Typically considered
- Textured coatings on ceilings and, occasionally, walls
- Vinyl or thermoplastic floor tiles and the black bitumen adhesive beneath them
- Boarding behind or above units, and boxing around service routes
- Panels or pads historically used beneath sinks and around boilers
- Wall and ceiling substrates opened up for new pipework or cabling
