Extensions, loft conversions and whole-house renovation
Where a house is being significantly remodelled, the survey scope should match the works. A loft conversion means the surveyor needs access into the roof space, eaves and around any old water tank; a rear extension means the external wall build-up, soffits and any garage being demolished. Scoping this properly avoids both under-surveying and paying for intrusion you do not need.
Building control and principal contractors on larger domestic projects will normally expect to see the refurbishment survey and register before work starts.
