Older terraced housing and conversions

A large share of Medway's rented stock is Victorian and Edwardian terraces converted into flats. Conversions typically added mid-century materials — insulating board to ceilings and risers, textured coatings, floor tiles and bitumen adhesive — which is where most positive results come from rather than the original Victorian fabric.

For a converted building the practical instruction is usually a management survey of the communal parts, with sampling inside individual flats only where a specific material is in question.

Industrial and commercial premises

Refurbishment surveys are £300 + VAT for a flat and £400 + VAT for a house. Larger houses, commercial premises and multi-property instructions are priced after a short scoping call. Prices are indicative and confirmed in writing before anything is booked.

How much is asbestos testing in Medway?

Targeted sampling is £60 + VAT for the first sample and £30 + VAT for each additional sample taken during the same visit. Sampling is collection of specific materials only — it is not a full survey, and the rest of the property is not inspected. Can you collect keys from an agent?

Yes. Where it is arranged beforehand, our surveyor can collect keys from an estate or letting agent, carry out the survey and return them afterwards, so you do not have to attend. Key-safe access can also be accommodated. Weekday and Saturday appointments are available subject to surveyor schedules.

Which survey do I need before building work?

A refurbishment and demolition survey covering everything the works will disturb. A management survey is not sufficient for construction work, and most contractors will not start without the R&D report and register.
