Converted houses, flats and HMOs
Communal areas of converted houses are non-domestic premises for the duty to manage, so a management survey of halls, stairs, risers and meter cupboards with a maintained register is normally what a landlord or managing agent needs.
Where a flat is being refurbished, a refurbishment survey scoped to those rooms is the right instruction — it covers what will actually be disturbed rather than the whole building.
